A Reporter caught up with GM John Forman and was able to ask him a few questions.
Reporter: Mr. Forman, first i'd like you to explain what happened late last season heading into the playoffs and in the playoffs.
John Forman: Well, my thoughts about last season were simple, we didn't do enough. When you work so hard to get to the playoffs it hurts to lose to a seed that is lower than you, especially a division rival such as Indiana.
Reporter: Alright, now John, how do you think you've approached this off season as we come to a end of the off season?
John Forman: You know, when i was coming into this off season, i was beyond excited to tell you the truth. Those 5 first round draft picks are 5 people that i really think can do well, obviously our draft was highlighted by the selections of Darrell Walls and Calbert Seymour.
Reporter: A lot of analysts consider the selection of 2 PG's back to back a bad idea, what would you have to say about that?
John Forman: Well, i think that if they think were keeping them strictly as a PG combo as to one coming off the bench they are sadly wrong. We believe that Calbert was the best pure shooter on the board and the 2nd best pure shooter overall. As for Darrell, when he came to Chicago for some workouts, we saw a lot of potential in him, therefor we just could not pass up the opportunity to have such an athletic player at point.
Reporter: Well, there has been a lot of talk as to why you let Miles (Plumlee) and Austin (Daye) walk in free agency. Also being that he had 2 years left on his contract, why resign Luol Deng so early?
John Forman: Well that is a difficult thing to answer, we would have loved to keep Miles and Austin with us in Chicago, but the price was not right for the two of them, we just could not afford to pay the contracts that they wanted and the contracts we were giving to Darrell and Calbert. As for the Deng question, we believe that in Chicago, there is no icon bigger than Luol; Luol Deng isn't just the superstar of the bulls he means so much more to the city regardless of how many years he had left on his deal.
Reporter: Alright, well thank you for your time, and good luck this season to you and the team.
